The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested Mohan Kumar, a former student who extorted Rs 2.5 crore from the family of a minor girl he met at a school on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Kumar, who studied there from 2017 to 2022, befriended the girl, exploiting her family's wealth by taking her on lavish trips to Goa, resorts, and cinemas.

Despite knowing her age, Kumar sexually assaulted her and recorded the acts to blackmail her. He threatened to upload the videos on social media, coercing her family to pay him in phases. The extortion also included vehicles, jewelry, cash, and watches.
The family's complaint led to Kumar's arrest, who now faces charges of extortion, sexual assault, and threats under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act. This incident has sparked discussions on the safety measures in educational institutions and the vulnerability of minors to such predatory behavior. The case continues to unfold as the CCB investigates further into Kumar's activities and the extent of his network.
