Narayanaswamy, a resident of Tamil Nadu, often accompanied his mother, Belliamma, who worked as a housemaid in the home of Rihas Asma. It was during these visits that he learned about the gold stash in the house. Desperate to secure funds for their future, he and Naveena decided to steal the gold.
Naveena, whose husband is also paralyzed, had a history of forming relationships with younger men through the app. Both Narayanaswamy and Naveena have two children each, but despite their responsibilities, they were determined to start a new life together.
Narayanaswamy managed to steal 300 grams of gold from the house where his mother worked and later pawned it. The couple then fled to Chennai, hoping to avoid detection. However, their behavior raised suspicions with the owner of the house they were staying in, who subsequently filed a police complaint.
The police tracked down the couple, leading to their arrest. The stolen gold was recovered, and the two now face charges for theft. The case has raised concerns about the misuse of dating apps for criminal activities.
