Courses like anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, forensic medicine, pharmacology, and physiology remain largely vacant, with fees in private colleges ranging from ₹1.1 lakh to ₹3.5 lakh.
Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre recently announced, through a public notice, a full tuition fee waiver for candidates allocated seats through KEA counselling for 2024-25. Additional perks include free boarding, lodging, a government-standard stipend, and a job guarantee with a senior resident salary of ₹1.3 lakh per month. Importantly, graduates are not obligated to join the institution post-completion.
Other institutions, like Oxford Medical College, BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences have followed suit. Experts highlight the acute faculty shortage in these fields. These incentives aim to encourage students to pursue such courses and address the faculty crisis while boosting enrollment.
