Foldable bicycles were seen within Bengaluru’s Namma Metro system, addressing the persistent challenge of last-mile connectivity in the bustling tech hub.

Despite the city’s efforts to streamline commuting through the metro, the issue of seamlessly reaching one’s final destination remains a significant concern for residents. Taking matters into their own hands, a group of young individuals were seen equipped with these compact bicycles during their metro travels.

A social media post by entrepreneur Vikram Limsay on platform X featured images captured aboard the newly launched Purple Line metro. Limsay expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Making full of #Nammametro #purpleline to Whitefield on our @BromptonBicycles.. super feeling.”

The foldable and space-efficient bicycles offer commuters a convenient way to navigate the city after disembarking from the metro, eliminating the need for other modes of transportation.

Moreover, these bicycles prove especially useful during times of heavy traffic, as they can be swiftly folded, allowing individuals to continue their journey on foot in the event of congestion.

Since the introduction of the Purple Line, Namma Metro has experienced a substantial surge in passenger traffic. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) reported a total footfall of 6,80,894 on the inaugural day, with 61,179 individuals commuting along the Baiyappanahalli – Whitefield stretch on the purple line, which recently commenced operations.

With the launch of the Baiyappanahalli – KR Puram line, the average daily ridership between KR Puram and Whitefield, previously at 28,000, witnessed a surge of over 100 percent. In fact, on the second day itself, the daily ridership hit the remarkable mark of seven lakhs.
