  • Parking limitations at Yellow Line metro stations have sparked concerns
  • Only two-wheelers will be permitted at parking lots across 13 stations
  • The lack of car parking facilities has been met with disappointment

Starting next year, Bengaluru's Yellow Line metro will commence operations between RV Road and Bommasandra, a corridor that caters to the city’s bustling IT hubs. While this development promises smoother commutes, parking limitations at metro stations have sparked concerns among employees.

Only two-wheelers will be permitted at parking lots across the 13 stations on this route, leaving car owners without options. This decision, coupled with restrictions on the number of two-wheelers allowed, is expected to exacerbate parking shortages.

A total of 2,690 two-wheeler parking slots will be distributed along the Yellow Line. Electronic City Station-1, a key hub, will have the highest capacity, offering 1,000 spaces. Other stations, including RV Road, Ragigudda, and Central Silkboard, will provide fewer than 250 slots each. Bommanahalli, Kudlugate, and Infosys Foundation stations will have capacities under 100, raising concerns about inadequate parking facilities.

With IT companies dominating this route and most employees relying on cars for travel, the lack of car parking facilities has been met with disappointment. Employees fear that the limited two-wheeler slots will lead to parking chaos in the coming months.

The station-wise two-wheeler parking capacities are:

  • RV Road: 223
  • Ragigudda: 220
  • BTM Layout: 216
  • Central Silkboard: 230
  • Bommanahalli: 85
  • Hongsandra: 155
  • Kudlugate: 85
  • Singasandra: 90
  • Hosa Road: 90
  • Infosys Foundation: 77
  • Biocon Hebbagodi: 150
  • Bommasandra: 92

Efforts to address these limitations are yet to be announced.
