The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has entered into a strategic partnership with Mudra Ventures and Lokesh Outdoor to monetize advertising on its Purple and Green Line trains. The agreement, which spans seven years, grants the firms exclusive advertising rights across selected metro trains, marking a significant step towards leveraging non-fare revenue streams.

As part of the deal, both the exterior and interior surfaces of metro trains will be used as advertising platforms. This includes full-train wraps, turning the trains into mobile billboards, as well as advertisements placed inside coaches. The initiative is designed not only to enhance brand visibility for advertisers but also to create a vibrant and visually dynamic commuting experience for passengers.
BMRCL estimates an annual revenue of ₹25 crore from this advertising venture. The earnings are expected to support the expansion and operational efficiency of the metro network, easing pressure on fare-based revenue and contributing to the city's infrastructure development.
This move aligns with BMRCL’s broader vision to build a financially sustainable public transit system. By tapping into commercial partnerships, the metro authority aims to boost income while continuing to provide affordable and efficient transportation for Bengaluru's growing population.
The collaboration with Mudra Ventures and Lokesh Outdoor reflects a growing trend among urban transport authorities to diversify income sources and invest in long-term service improvements.
