The Bengaluru Namma Metro is preparing for a fare increase of up to 20%, raising current fares from ₹10-₹60 to an anticipated range of ₹15-₹75. This comes amid strong opposition from metro riders, who voiced significant disapproval during a recent feedback period organized by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

From October 3 to October 28, BMRCL invited public input on the proposed fare revision, receiving mostly negative responses. Despite this, sources indicate that the fare hike is still likely to proceed as BMRCL grapples with rising operational expenses.
Following a 25-day feedback collection, BMRCL officials held multiple meetings, suggesting that a fare increase announcement could be imminent. The fare change is expected to impact commuters on the metro’s busiest corridors, particularly the purple and green lines, which see the highest daily foot traffic.
Passengers and frequent metro users have expressed frustration, emphasizing the financial strain of higher fares on daily commutes. Although the feedback period allowed citizens to share their views, it appears unlikely to alter the outcome, as BMRCL faces pressure to meet operational cost demands.
