Bengaluru: Mother of suicide victim levels suicide abetment charge on PESU

An account named ‘justiceforadityaprabhu’ was created on Instagram on July 20th by the mother of Aditya Prabhu, who jumped to death from the 8th floor of a building inside the PES campus on July 17th, allegedly after being caught cheating in an exam. A detailed 10 slide post has been published on the handle explaining her side of the story. She has made some very serious charges. 

She claimed that Aditya was not taken to the hospital unless she agreed to sign a document and that the police officers were called on the spot only after the family demanded an investigation. Further she said that they tried convincing the police that the body did not belong to one of their college students and kept her in the dark about the incident for more than 1 hour as well. She said that he had unintentionally carried his phone inside the exam hall and this was noticed only 4 minutes before the exam was completed. He was subsequently mentally harassed and left unattended. “It is better to die than do such things” he was told apparently.

 The post has received more than 7 Lakh likes. A peaceful protest is also being held on July 23nd in Freedom Park in this regard. PES University on their end have however refuted the allegations and promised full cooperation with the investigation.
