The incident came to light on November 7 when a missing persons report was filed involving eight individuals. The families of the children, who were told their kids would not be returned unless the ransom was paid, immediately approached the police. Investigations soon revealed a web of relationships behind the crime.

Deepak, the husband of Reshma, one of the mothers, lodged the initial complaint. It was discovered that Reshma was in a romantic relationship with a man named Mutturaj, while Priyanka, Deepak's sister-in-law, was involved with Sunil. Both women had three children each, and together, they planned the kidnapping. They fled with the children after making their ransom demand.

As the police launched a manhunt, it was revealed that the suspects had traveled to multiple states, including Maharashtra, Goa, and Hyderabad. However, the authorities eventually traced them to Bengaluru, where they were arrested. All six children have been safely rescued, and the accused are now in police custody.
