Bengaluru’s BBMP park in Indiranagar has introduced new regulations to enhance safety, particularly for women and the elderly. The new rules mandate that all visitors must walk in a clockwise direction, with jogging and gaming activities strictly prohibited.
The decision comes after several complaints, particularly from women, regarding men deliberately walking in the opposite direction, making them feel uncomfortable. Reports suggest that some individuals were intentionally violating the unwritten social decorum, prompting an outcry on social media. In response, the authorities have enforced a one-directional walking rule to ensure a safe and hassle-free environment.

The change has been welcomed by elderly visitors and women, who feel more secure with the structured movement. The park now features clear signage stating, "No Jogging, Walk Clockwise Direction, No Gaming Activities."
Jogging has also been restricted to prevent accidents and inconvenience to elderly walkers. Given the park’s limited space, authorities argue that allowing jogging alongside regular walkers could lead to congestion and potential mishaps.
The new rules have sparked discussions among locals, with some suggesting a separate dress code for park visitors. While the decision has received mixed reactions, many believe it will contribute to a more organized and safer experience for all.
With these changes, BBMP aims to maintain order while ensuring that the park remains a comfortable space for all visitors.
