OnePlus India Technology Pvt Ltd has been ordered to pay a ₹5,000 fine to a Bengaluru resident after failing to provide a user manual when he purchased a OnePlus Nord CE 3 smartphone. The consumer dispute arose when SM Ramesh, a resident of Sanjay Nagar, bought the phone for ₹24,598 in December last year but did not receive a user manual at the time of purchase.

Ramesh, who struggled to find the phone's warranty details and the company's address without the manual, was frustrated by the lack of support. Although OnePlus provided him with the manual four months later, Ramesh filed a complaint with the city's consumer redressal platform in June, citing “deficiency in service” for not receiving the manual initially.
The Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission of Bengaluru issued an order on November 29, criticizing OnePlus for its "sheer negligence and indifference." The panel found the company's failure to provide the manual at the time of purchase as a significant lapse in service.
This ruling highlights the importance of providing complete product information to customers and reinforces the consumer rights law in India. The ₹5,000 fine was imposed as compensation for the inconvenience caused to Ramesh.
