When even those at the fulcrum of power are no longer safe, how would the situation be poised for average citizens?
Members of Legislative Council (MLCs) had begun to notice that the space for parking their vehicles was shrinking ever since visitors were granted permission to park. They had even raised the issue during the zero hour in the legislative council. MLC DS Arun is quoted as saying “Many are carrying passes to visit Vidhana Soudha. There’s no idea if they have original passes issued by elected representatives or fake ones. It is causing inconvenience and the government has to resolve this issue,”
This prompted the security personnel to amp up the scrutiny of the security passes that were being issued to regulate the entry and exit of vehicles. What was uncovered must be an issue of concern for all.
Over 250 cars had outdated or photocopied versions of the car passes.
The passes have to be renewed on an annual basis every March. Officials are having plans in place to make the process digital by having QR code governed entry of the vehicles. So far no misuse of the provisions has been observed but that does not excuse lapses in the process.
