A pavement is to ensure that pedestrians get a dedicated path to walk on. However, with expanding roads and voluminous traffic, pavements are shrinking as vehicles squat on them, thereby robbing pedestrians of their way.
An X user who goes by the handle Bangalore Metro Updates has put out a post, highlighting how this usurpation of pavements has been rampant in Whitefield, Bengaluru.
The user complains that Anand Sweets has encroached on the footpath for the purpose of parking. He rues that despite several complaints, nothing has fructified.
“Didn’t Find Parking? Ok, come and occupy the #Footpath. This is what Anand Sweets & 4Friends has been doing since months. Despite bringing it to @wftrps notice many times, there’s no change in their way of footpath encroachment. @acpwfieldtrf Sir, need your intervention,” the post reads.

As a reply to this post, another user wrote, “This has got Namma Bengaluru written all over it , basically eat from both sides . First give an approval for commercial space without provision for parking , then save money by not even making basic infra and letting commercial establishments use public space for private parking . I think a new word needs to be added to dictionary for this level of corruption.”
