Bengaluru’s Peenya flyover will remain partially closed to heavy vehicles for another 18 months as ongoing repair work progresses. The 4.2 km flyover, a crucial link in the city’s road network, has been under repair, with buses and trucks restricted from using it from Friday evening to Saturday morning.

Authorities have already installed 240 cables as part of the renovation efforts, with plans to add 1,200 more in the next phase. Once the work is completed, experts from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) will conduct safety inspections before reopening the flyover to all traffic.
The extended restrictions have caused frustration among commuters, with many citing persistent congestion and delays in the Peenya area. Motorists are calling for faster repair solutions and improved traffic management, as ongoing disruptions continue to impact daily travel.
Despite repairs, traffic bottlenecks remain a significant challenge, and residents hope for a resolution soon. Authorities, however, stress that the restrictions are necessary to ensure the structural safety and long-term usability of the flyover.
