A medical store owner has been accused of performing medical operations on customers for hefty sums of money. Mahesh Kumar is the owner of MedZone located in the Ashwath Nagar region of the city. A worker from Bihar had approached him stating that he is feeling pain in his leg. Mahesh is alleged to have administered an injection to the worker and tied a bandage to him by seeking instructions from a YouTube video. He is alleged to have charged Rs 10,000 for his service and also speculated to have indulged in such practices on 6 other occasions.
This was observed by those present at the location who took offence to this violation of the norms. They handed Mahesh over to the Sanjay Nagar Police Station. Mahesh admitted to his mistake and he was let off with a warning.
Mahesh spoke to Newsfirst to offer his side of the story. He claimed to have helped the worker who claimed to not have the resources to afford a doctor. He claimed that the public outrage against him was orchestrated by people wanting to settle scores of a previous scuffle with him. He stated that the charge of having administered an injection was not found in fact.
