Bengaluru: Pillion rider damages car mirror near Sarakki signal

In a video that has now gone viral, a young person can be seen taking a fling at a sedan’s mirror resulting in the mirror falling onto the road. 

An X (formerly known as Twitter) page named ThirdEye run by a YouTuber who submits videos of traffic violations to the Bengaluru Traffic Police had shared the video. “MISCREANTS BREAK MIRROR - In a video caught on dashcam, a triple riding two wheeler who has 19k pending fines broke a car's mirror by punching. It's unclear what triggered them to do this but this is illegal,” he captioned the video, tagging the Bengaluru Police and The Kumaraswamy Traffic Police Station in the post.

The account also managed to trace the number plate of the vehicle by correlating it with another instance of traffic violation by a similar booking vehicle. 

 The Kumarswamy Traffic Police swung into action and identified the vehicle within two hours. The vehicle was registered under the name of Yellammma from Jayanagar but it is her 21-year-old son Rohit, who works in a petrol bunk who was the perpetrator of this incident. The bike has been seized and a case has been filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motors Vehicle Act. A fine of Rs 21,500 has been levied on the individual.
