The Bengaluru traffic police have launched a rigorous enforcement drive targeting drunken driving and overspeeding, booking 769 cases of drunken driving in just one week. A total fine of ₹76 lakh was collected during the special operation, which also saw the scrutiny of 60,903 vehicles across the city.

The drive aimed to curb traffic violations and improve road safety. In some instances of drunken driving, the police have written to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) recommending the cancellation of offenders’ driving licenses.

Alongside the crackdown on drunken driving, the traffic police also took strict action against overspeeding. A total of 241 cases were registered for speeding violations, with fines amounting to ₹2.41 lakh collected from the offenders.

The intensified enforcement efforts reflect the authorities’ commitment to reducing traffic-related incidents and ensuring compliance with road safety regulations. The traffic police urged motorists to adhere to traffic laws, emphasizing that such drives will continue to maintain discipline on the roads.
