In an unusual Sunday move, Bengaluru’s newly appointed Police Commissioner has summoned every Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and Inspector across all city stations, including traffic, law & order, cyber, and narcotics units for a critical meeting today. The directive was issued directly by the Commissioner’s office, calling on officers to assemble team-wise at the Commissioner’s office imminently.

The Commissioner’s initiative reflects his proactive stance on addressing recent challenges in the city, especially during high-pressure events. A central agenda item is the RCB celebration stampede, which tragically claimed 11 lives and triggered widespread criticism over crowd control and safety oversight. Beyond this, the meeting will also tackle broader law-and-order issues, cybercrime prevention, and narcotics enforcement.
By involving officers across all levels and units, from traffic inspectors managing daily flow to specialized cyber and drug teams, the Commissioner is ensuring a comprehensive review of existing protocols, identifying operational weaknesses, and improving interdepartmental coordination. The approach indicates intent to hold relevant officers directly accountable while reinforcing public safety.
This move aligns with recent shifts in Karnataka’s police leadership. The new commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh replaced the previously suspended officer in the aftermath of the RCB-related tragedy. Such leadership changes have underlined a renewed focus on strengthening Bengaluru’s policing framework.
