The city is currently divided into North, South, Central, East, West, South East, North East, and Whitefield divisions. The reorganization seeks to streamline law enforcement by ensuring a balanced allocation of resources.
To combat the rising cases of cybercrime and narcotics-related offenses, the state government has allocated ₹5 crore to the cybercrime division. Additionally, four new bomb detection and disposal squads will be set up in Ballari, Davangere, Mysuru, and Bengaluru Central Zones to enhance security measures.
Further strengthening Karnataka’s law enforcement, two Indian Reserve Battalions will be established at Kudugurki near Nandi Hills and in KGF, backed by an ₹80 crore grant. Under the ‘Police Gruha-2025’ initiative, ₹300 crore has been earmarked for the construction of residential quarters for police personnel.
The government has also doubled the ex-gratia for families of home guards and civil defence volunteers who die in the line of duty, increasing it from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
