  • Four young cancer patients became police officers for a day in Bengaluru
  • They toured the Traffic Management Centre and rode in patrol vehicles
  • An eight-year-old in Shimoga also became a police inspector for a day

On World Cancer Day, four young children battling cancer in Bengaluru had the unique opportunity to live their dream of becoming police officers for a day, thanks to an initiative by Bengaluru Police. The special event, held at the city’s Traffic Management Centre (TMC), allowed the children to wear khaki uniforms and step into the shoes of real officers.

The children were honored with a guard of honor, alongside City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda, and received a grand salute from senior officers. They were then taken on a tour of the TMC, where they learned how traffic management works in the city.

The experience included rides in police patrol vehicles, interactions with officers, and even giving mock orders to junior personnel. For a few hours, these courageous children, who dream of serving in the police or military, were able to set aside their struggles and embrace the role of heroes in uniform.

Earlier in the week, a similar gesture was made by Shimoga Police, where an eight-year-old boy with severe heart disease was granted his wish to be a police inspector for a day. These heartwarming events highlight the power of community support and the joy of fulfilling the dreams of young warriors facing serious health challenges.
