Bengaluru police have ramped up night patrolling and citizen engagement efforts as part of an initiative to curb night-time crime and enhance public safety. The 'Naavu Neevu' programme—also known as Neighbourhood Watch—was initially launched in the West Division and is now being rolled out across other divisions in the city.

Under the initiative, citizens are being encouraged to join night patrols alongside police personnel. Each patrol team comprises a police officer paired with a volunteer.

To recognise the contributions of volunteers, appreciation certificates will be awarded during the Masika Jana Samparka Sabha. In the West Division alone, each police station has enlisted between five and ten volunteers. Interested residents above the age of 18, with no criminal background, can enrol by visiting their local police station.

In a tech-driven move to streamline operations, the Karnataka State Police has launched the E-Subhahu mobile application. This tool supports planning, auditing, and reporting of patrols, particularly in women-sensitive zones such as hostels, paying guest accommodations, religious sites, banks, and public transport hubs. The app also enables the public to track police presence, as notifications are sent out when an officer checks in at designated beat points.

These efforts aim to foster greater community trust while reinforcing law and order.
