The Bengaluru police, with the Karnataka government’s approval, will appeal to the Supreme Court against the Karnataka High Court's decision to grant medical bail to Darshan, an accused (A2) in the high-profile Renukaswamy murder case. Darshan had secured bail citing the need for a medical operation but has reportedly opted for traditional treatment instead, raising concerns over the legitimacy of his plea. The prosecution fears this defense could set a precedent, potentially being misused by other accused in similar cases to seek bail under medical pretenses.

The murder case revolves around the brutal killing of Renukaswamy, who allegedly sent inappropriate messages to Pavitra Gowda. Darshan, along with other accused, allegedly lured Renukaswamy into a shed where he was beaten to death. The body was later disposed of in a nearby drain. Darshan was apprehended at a gym in Mysuru, underscoring the extensive efforts by authorities to apprehend those involved.

The appeal to the Supreme Court highlights the prosecution's concerns over bail misuse and its potential impact on ongoing cases. The court's decision is awaited, and it remains to be seen how the top judiciary will respond to this challenge by law enforcement.
