It was initially assumed that the murder of Sudaharan by Vijay Kumar in the Kalasipalya area of Bengaluru was over a suspicion by Vijay Kumar that Sudaharan had stolen Rs 140 from him. However upon a detailed enquiry, the real motive was unfounded.
Sudaharan and Vijay Kumar were daily wage labourers in Kalasipalya vegetable market. They were very close friends. Vijay had a smoking and alcohol addiction. He was admitted to a rehabilitation centre in 2015 for this reason. Sudaharan arranged for Vijay’s wife to be re-married with an individual named Anand during this time. Vijay was shocked at this news after having come out. He went into depression.
Sudaharan and Vijay fought over this issue several times. 4 months back Vijay asked Sudaharan where his wife is. Sudaharan attempted to call Anand but his call was not received.
This further infuriated Vijay. This made him plan the murder. On November 11th he met Sudaharan and gave him alcohol saying he is not in good spirits and hence not in a position to consume it. They later reached the roof of the vegetable market for relaxation. Sudaharan fell asleep. He was suddenly awoken by Vijay who made accusations of stealing Rs 140 on Sudaharan. An argument ensued and Vijay slapped Sudaharan. Seeing this as an opportune moment, he used a knife used to cut vegetables to slit Sudaharan’s throat. He packed Sudaraharan’s body in a gunny bag and set it on fire before fleeing the spot. He confessed to this during the inquiry.
