The murder of the Deputy Director in the Mines and Geology department, Pratima on Saturday had sent shockwaves across the city. It had also become a matter of political contestation with charges of the resurfacing of the mining mafia being made. “The cold blooded murder of a young mines and geology department officer in Bengaluru by suspected mining mafia elements is a shocker to the whole state. It is a glaring indication of the absolute collapse of law and order and emboldening of these mafia elements under the Congress regime. It deeply hurts to see our beloved State deteriorate down this path,” Member of Parliament (MP) representing Bengaluru South from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tejasvi Surya had posted on X.

However, it has been revealed that Kiran, who was a former driver for Pratima had carried out this dastardly attack. It is being reported that Kiran would leak information pertaining to prospective raids. He was warned by Pratima on one occasion over this. He was recently involved in an accident after which Pratima had decided to dismiss him. On Saturday night, he went to her residence and pleaded with her to reconsider her decision. When she did not yield, he used a wire-like substance to strangulate. She fell to the ground. He subsequently stabbed her to death.

He then escaped to Chamarajanagar. The police traced him through his phone’s signal. He was eventually nabbed near the Male Mahadeshwara Hills. He confessed to his involvement during the interrogation.
