  • NSUI helmed the protest
  • Examinations are scheduled to commence fom January 2nd
  • Proper class sections were not allotted: student

Students of the Presidency University participated in a demonstration against the college authorities as students who have an attendance of less than 75% were not permitted to attend the examinations. The examinations are scheduled to commence fom January 2nd.

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) helmed the protest. “As we students are facing issues for our career due to this, we request you to consider students having attendance ranging from 60 to 100 percent or at least consider above 65 percent. Since we students have medical issues and several reasons for not attending classes. First of which, proper class sections were not allotted and in the first ten minutes of each class attendance was taken, it takes at least 5 to 10 minutes to walk from labs to classes. How is it possible for us to be in class in the first 10 minutes? Though we asked permission from faculties, they only gave priority to head girls. They did not give or provide prior notices. We are students, not employees to pay 6k-8k for each subject in summer term. It will become difficult for higher semester students to attend internships and campus selection. Consider not only attendance but also the internals and CGPA of students. Because attendance is not the only point to decide a student’s career. I kindly request the higher officials to look into it and do the needful,” one of the students’ said amidst the demonstration.
