Bengaluru: Questions arise after PSI counselling; is there preference for wealthy localities?

There is a major turmoil within the Karnataka Police department. 218 Police Sub-Inspectors (PSI) have been transferred in light of maintaining law and order. This has raised several questions. 

A district level counselling was conducted by senior officials before the transfer. It is being reported that wealthy districts were the go-to option for many PSIs. These included Cubbon Park, Ashok Nagar, Peenya, Koramangala and K.R Puram. Supposedly, not a single candidate in the Fire Department opted for the Adugodi Police Station. 3 PSIs from that branch have already opted for a transfer elsewhere. 75% of the jurisdiction of the Adugodi police station is filled with slums. The number of complaints received by the branch are high. Murders, attempted murders, incidents that can be classified as public disorder and activities of rowdies are among the events that come to light in this region. There are speculations that since it is a risk-prone region, there is an apprehension among candidates to take up the position of a PSI. 

In the counselling that took place 2 days back, not a single candidate opted for a posting in Adugodi. There appears to be more than what meets the eye in the way the whole affair is unfolding.
