Bengaluru: Railway police recover 120 grams of gold from robbery gang ; sedated Badam Milk offered to victims

The Bengaluru Railway Police has nabbed a robbery network operating inside trains. The gang would serve seated Badam milk to co-passengers and then proceed to steal their jewellery. The gang would book tickets in reserved compartments to carry out their activities. They would choose trains that had a travel period of 2-3 days. 120 grams of gold amounting to Rs 6.2 lakh was recovered from the gang. They had stolen jewellery from a woman in the Bengaluru- Jodhpur Express. Three Kolkata based individuals named Shaukha Ali, Mohammad Sattar and Mohammad Awad have been nabbed. 

Another Koppam- based gang that would operate twice every year has also been apprehended. 402 grams of gold amounting to Rs 38 lakh have been recovered from the gang. This gang would travel with children and target vanity bags of passengers. Two women named Gayatri and Sandhya based in Koppam have been arrested. They would be more active during the wedding season and summer. They would hide in Koppam for 6 months after committing the act. 

Railway SP Sowmyalatha stated that 32 checkposts have been created ahead of the 2024 elections. She claimed that 32 kgs of weed have been seized so far. 480 mixers have been seized in Hubballi. Goods trains and parcels are being scrutinised.
