Bengaluru: Rain results in 6-feet deep crater near Namma Metro construction site

As a result of rain, a 6-feet deep crater was created on a road in the Pottery Town region of Bengaluru near the construction of Namma Metro. Construction for the Underground Metro was underway. Senior Officials of the BMRCL rushed to the spot upon being informed of this. 

Bengaluru witnessed an intense spell of rain on May 8th. Although the rain brought relief to millions who had to bear with high temperatures in the month of April, it did create problems for people navigating traffic taken aback by the sheer quantity of rain. The rain was accompanied with lightning in many parts of the city. K.R Circle, J.C Road, Mysore Bank Circle, K.R Market, Vijaynagar, Yelahanka, Majestic, Chickpete, Rajajinagar, Nayandahalli, Nelamangala, Pulakeshinagar, Hulimavu and Vasanth Nagar were some of the regions that were purview to heavy rain. Forecasts indicate that such rain can be expected for the next seven days.

Whirlwinds in the Bay of Bengal are reported as the cause for this rain. The Karavalli region of Karnataka is predicted to receive more rain. On May 143th and May 14th, the entire state could witness heavy rainfall. In light of this prediction, it is advisable for people in Bengaluru to carry a raincoat with them at all times while venturing outside.
