Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday visited several rain-affected areas in Bengaluru following heavy downpours that caused flooding and infrastructure damage across the city. Accompanied by Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, local ministers, MLAs, and civic officials, the Chief Minister undertook inspections to assess the damage and take stock of ongoing relief measures.

A key stop was near the Manyata Tech Park, where the team inspected a stormwater drain (rajakaluve) reportedly encroached upon. “I have directed officials to immediately clear the encroachments to allow smooth water flow,” Siddaramaiah said. The CEO of Manyata Tech Park has reportedly assured the construction of a new internal road to support drainage improvements in the area.
The Chief Minister also visited HBR Layout 5th Stage, where rainwater had entered residential areas due to drainage issues. “I have instructed action against those dumping waste into drains and have asked BDA to clear encroachments on its land without hesitation,” he added.
Siddaramaiah also inspected Sai Layout, a low-lying area that faces recurring flooding. He acknowledged the persistent issues due to the topography and called for long-term drainage solutions.
The visits come amid growing criticism of the city’s stormwater infrastructure. The CM assured that all departments are working in coordination to prevent further rain-related disruptions.
