Bengaluru has been named the most affordable city in the world for dating, according to Deutsche Bank’s Mapping the World’s Prices 2025 survey. The “Cheap Date Index,” which tracks the cost of a casual evening out for two—including a bottle of wine, dinner, coffee, cinema tickets, transport, and basic apparel—found that Bengaluru offers the most budget-friendly combination globally.

With a typical date costing just $104, Bengaluru ranks far below cities like Geneva ($471), Zurich ($462), and New York ($354), offering couples a cost-effective romantic experience. The index considers items such as a pair of jeans, a summer dress, two cappuccinos, a mid-range dinner, two movie tickets, local transport, and a short taxi ride—essentials that are surprisingly affordable in India's tech capital.
The city’s blend of youthful energy, thriving café culture, and moderate climate adds to its appeal for couples. From student pairs in cozy coffee shops to working professionals enjoying a budget-friendly dinner date, Bengaluru’s social scene caters to romance without draining wallets.
India as a whole continues to rank among the most affordable countries across lifestyle categories. However, Deutsche Bank cautions that rising incomes and evolving lifestyles could gradually increase prices in urban centers like Bengaluru.
For now, the city remains a sweet spot for love on a budget—where a romantic evening still fits comfortably within reach, even as it retains its reputation as a leading global tech hub.
