The fan touched Kohli's feet and hugged him

Fan was taken away from the field and physically assaulted

Social activist Rupesh Rajanna raised his voice in this regard

During the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Super Kings (PBKS) held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, a man managed to find his way into the stadium and met with Virat Kohli. This had become viral. But what transpired after that is shocking. Fans are furious at the ground staff.

The fan had flouted rules and managed to sneak into the field during the second innings while RCB was batting. The fan touched Kohli’s feet and hugged him before the security officials got to him. He was taken away from the field and later physically assaulted. This was, however, captured by a phone as well. The video of the physical assault reached fans on social media.

This has resulted in outrage among fans. While the fans have not justified the act of the individual violating norms to enter the field, whether this warrants physical assault is a question they posed. The fans expressed that the officials could consider taking the legal options available to them instead of resorting to violence. The Bengaluru Police and the Police Commissioner B Dayananda were tagged by fans with a request for initiating action against the officials. Social activist Rupesh Rajanna also raised his voice in this regard.
