Confirming the payment, Bengaluru Traffic Police posted on X: “Out of a total of 311 pending cases, a fine of ₹1,61,500 has been imposed on the owner/driver of vehicle KA-05 JX-1344. The scooter was seized on February 3, 2025, and the rider has now been instructed to strictly follow traffic regulations.”

The massive fine first gained attention after a social media user tracked the violations, noting that the amount had risen from ₹1,05,500 last year to ₹1,61,500 this year.

Police Crack Down on Repeat Offenders

Bengaluru Traffic Police have intensified efforts to penalize habitual offenders with long-pending fines. Officials are targeting vehicles with outstanding dues exceeding ₹50,000. Last year, a Sudhamanagar resident was found to have a record ₹3.2 lakh in fines on a single scooter.

Joint Commissioner MN Anucheth reportedly revealed that 2,681 vehicles in Bengaluru currently owe over ₹50,000 in traffic fines, highlighting rampant violations in the city.
