Bengaluru is witnessing an alarming surge in road rage incidents, with two recent cases highlighting the severity of the issue. In a shocking incident, a woman alleged that she received “open rape threats” from a young man after an auto-rickshaw, which he was traveling in, nearly collided with her car. The man insulted the woman and her mother, calling them “prostitutes” and making obscene comments about how he would assault them. He also threatened to throw acid on her face if she shared a video of the incident online.

The woman shared her ordeal on social media, recounting how the man made vulgar gestures and spewed threats after being honked at for reckless driving on Kathriguppe Road.

This case comes shortly after another disturbing incident, where an auto driver slapped a woman for cancelling her Uber ride. The driver became enraged and confronted the woman, escalating the situation into violence.

These incidents point to a growing pattern of aggression on Bengaluru’s roads, raising concerns about the safety of commuters, particularly women. Citizens are calling for stricter action against road rage and public harassment.
