The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Bengaluru has seized 30 luxury cars for tax evasion. These high-end vehicles were illegally registered in other states and were being used in Karnataka without paying the required road tax.

The seized cars include premium brands like Maserati, Ferrari, Porsche, Range Rover, and BMW. Officials found that many were registered in states like Delhi, Maharashtra, Pondicherry, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand to avoid Karnataka’s high road tax.
RTO officials launched a crackdown on illegally plying vehicles, targeting those that failed to comply with state tax regulations. This operation is expected to bring in tax revenues of nearly Rs 3 crore.
Authorities stated that luxury car owners often register their vehicles in states with lower tax rates but continue to use them in Karnataka. This leads to a significant loss in revenue for the state government.
Officials have warned that more such operations will follow. They urged owners of out-of-state vehicles to ensure proper tax payments to avoid penalties and vehicle seizures.
This crackdown highlights the government’s efforts to curb tax evasion and enforce strict compliance among high-end vehicle owners. The seized cars will be released only after owners clear their pending dues.
