Parents across Bengaluru need to exercise caution while allowing kids to play on the roads. An incident from the jurisdiction of the Thalaghattapura Police Station bears testament to this fact.

The incident occurred at around 8 PM on August 1st. A child riding a cycle collided with an RX-100 bike coming from the opposite direction in Banashankari 6th Stage 4th T Block. The bike did not even have a number plate attached to it as it was covered in green paint. It appears that the bike was being chased by a dog and this could have resulted in a loss of concentration for the bike driver.

The visuals of the incident have been captured on a CCTV camera. The video of the incident has become rather viral. The bike driver made a quick stop to look at the kid after the collision. He however quickly recouped before fleeing the spot. Fortunately, the child did not suffer any major injuries. A by-stander who witnessed the incident rushed to protect the child.

The incident brings to light several safety concerns. How a bike without a number plate did not come under the police’s radar is the primary question. The safety concerns posed by the presence of street dogs is also pertinent.
