Bengaluru’s police force is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a safe and incident-free New Year’s Eve in the city’s popular celebration hotspots. Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) have been conducting midnight inspections to assess security measures.
Central Division DCP Shekhar HT personally reviewed arrangements at M.G. Road, Brigade Road, and Church Street, while Southeast Division DCP Sara Fatima inspected Koramangala, MICO Layout, and HSR Layout. Both officers emphasized heightened surveillance and proactive measures to manage the expected crowds.

To bolster security, 180 additional CCTV cameras have been installed alongside existing systems. A mini control room has been set up for real-time monitoring, and extra lighting is being added in poorly lit areas. Key measures include 15 safety islands, 15 watch posts for women’s safety, and reserved emergency services like 10 beds at St. John’s Hospital and three ambulances.
Brigade Road will feature separate lanes for women and the elderly, with one-way pedestrian movement enforced through Opera Junction. Drone cameras and an Anti-Subversion Team are actively monitoring high-density areas to prevent sabotage.
Over 2,000 police personnel, including Home Guards, striking forces, and specialized units, have been deployed. Public address systems and police kiosks will guide and assist revelers.
DCP Shekhar HT urged the public to celebrate responsibly, warning against inappropriate behavior. “Action will be taken against those who disturb others,” he said, emphasizing that safety remains the top priority.
