Scores of Bangalore Medical College students fell ill owing to alleged diarrhea on Friday. As many as 28 students were in the trauma care centre, 13 in H Block and 3 in ICU. 

It was learnt that the students complained of loose stools and dehydration. They were diagnosed with a severe form of gastroenteritis. They were put on antibiotics and IV fluids.

Speaking to NewsFirst, Dr Prashant, who is treating the students said, “At present, two students are being treated in the ICU. One of them had kidney issues. So we took the opinion from the nephrology department and have put her on antibiotics. The other student is in a state of shock. So her BP was high.”

Food Poisoning due to weather

The doctor suspects that they may have faced food poisoning due to the extreme heat and ruled out cholera. 

Hostel warden in the dock!

Once the news spread, the dean of the college rushed to pay a visit to the students. He has promised to look into irregularities that have been brought to his notice. Today, a committee will be formed to look into allegations of the hostel warden Akhilandeshwari’s dereliction of duty.
