The Kodigehalli police have arrested a 35-year-old man with a background in mechanical engineering for his alleged involvement in 91 cases of house break-ins and thefts across regions.
The accused, identified as Srinivas, hails from Andhra Pradesh and was previously employed as part of the technical crew in the Telugu film industry. His alleged criminal activities began in 2008, when he was first apprehended for stealing a laptop to fund his online gaming addiction. After securing bail, Srinivas is believed to have turned to full-time burglary.

According to police investigations, he would travel to various locations, scout for locked houses, and allegedly carry out thefts after breaking in. On certain occasions, he reportedly burgled two houses in a single day before returning to his native town to dispose of the stolen items.
The latest breakthrough came when police matched CCTV footage from a recent house break-in in Kodigehalli with images from a crime database, confirming Srinivas’s identity. His arrest has helped police crack two local burglary cases, with valuables worth ₹9 lakh recovered from his possession.
Despite coming from a well-educated family—with siblings working in the tech industry abroad—Srinivas allegedly resorted to crime due to his gaming addiction and pursuit of a lavish lifestyle. Authorities are continuing investigations to trace additional stolen property and assess the extent of his criminal network.
