After keeping the police on their toes for days, a notorious chain snatcher who targeted lone women has finally been arrested. The accused, identified as Vijay (38) from Tumakuru, was involved in a series of daring chain-snatching incidents, all executed within a single day.

According to sources, Vijay approached unsuspecting women under the pretense of asking for directions and then forcibly snatched their gold chains. He had managed to evade capture after committing thefts in two different police station limits. His spree included the following:
- Three days ago, Vijay threatened an elderly woman named Rangamma with a knife and fled with her gold chain in one incident.
- He targeted Lakshmamma of Neerubavitota village, who was tending her cattle, and forcibly took her mangalsutra.
- Near Karehalli, Vijay snatched the mangalsutra of a woman named Muthamma, continuing his theft spree.
The police have recovered gold chains worth over Rs 3 lakh and a motorcycle used in the crimes. Vijay's arrest was recorded at the Tyamagondlu Police Station, and he is now in custody.
