Apple is accelerating its expansion in India, with Bengaluru set to welcome the tech giant’s third retail store in the country. According to a report, Apple will open its new store at the Phoenix Mall of Asia in Hebbal, occupying a premium 8,000-square-foot space. The Bengaluru outlet will mirror the brand’s sleek, minimalist aesthetic seen in its Delhi store, though it will be smaller than the flagship 20,800-square-foot Mumbai store.

The lease for the Bengaluru store began on November 8, 2024, with rent payments kicking off from August 8, 2025 — suggesting an opening just months away. Apple has signed a 10-year lease, agreeing to pay 2% of store revenue for the first three years, increasing to 2.5% thereafter.
This expansion marks a significant phase in Apple’s India strategy. CEO Tim Cook recently confirmed that four more stores are in the pipeline, with Pune and the Delhi-NCR region joining Mumbai and Bengaluru as key retail destinations. The company’s first two Indian stores, launched in 2023, were seen as symbolic entries. This third store signals a deeper, more permanent commitment.
Beyond retail, India has emerged as a crucial part of Apple’s global supply chain. During the company’s Q2 2025 earnings call, Cook stated that starting June, most iPhones sold in the U.S. will be manufactured in India. Other Apple products — including iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and AirPods — are increasingly being sourced from Vietnam.
This shift aligns with Apple’s efforts to reduce dependence on China amid ongoing geopolitical tensions. However, new complications loom. U.S. President Donald Trump has warned of a 25% tariff on iPhones not made in the U.S., potentially pressuring Apple to bring more manufacturing back home.
Despite the uncertainty, Apple appears committed to its South Asian expansion. With India poised to become a major sales and production hub, the upcoming Bengaluru store is more than a retail outlet — it’s a strategic foothold in Apple’s reimagined global playbook.
