Bengaluru-Shivamogga Vande Bharat Express announced, set to boost Central Karnataka connectivity

Bengaluru is poised to welcome another premium rail link with the soon-to-be-launched Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Shivamogga. This new high-speed rail service is expected to significantly improve connectivity between the state capital and Central Karnataka, offering faster and more comfortable travel for commuters, students, and professionals.

The news was confirmed by Bengaluru Central MP P C Mohan, who shared the update on social media, stating, “Shivamogga–Bengaluru Vande Bharath soon.” While the official launch date and schedule are still pending, anticipation is already building, especially among the people of Shivamogga who have been demanding this service for years.

Shivamogga, located approximately 300 kilometers from Bengaluru, is an important hub for education, agriculture, and business. The introduction of this Vande Bharat train is expected to serve as a much-needed link, complementing the region’s recently inaugurated Shivamogga Airport and enhancing intercity travel options.

This upcoming service will be Karnataka’s 12th Vande Bharat Express, adding to a growing network of fast and efficient trains across the state. It will also strengthen Bengaluru’s direct Vande Bharat connectivity to seven major destinations: Mysuru, Chennai, Ernakulam, Hyderabad, Dharwad, Coimbatore, and Belagavi.

Earlier in May 2025, the Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat Express was launched and has received a positive response, operating on a convenient same-day return schedule. The Shivamogga route is expected to follow a similar model, providing a fast, safe, and premium alternative to road and air travel.
