The Osborne Road Area Residents’ Welfare Association (ORARWA) has voiced its concerns about the proposed Sky Deck project in Bengaluru, addressing a detailed letter to the BBMP Chief Commissioner. In response to a public notice issued on October 30, 2024, ORARWA acknowledged the vision of enhancing Bengaluru's global appeal but stressed the importance of evaluating the city’s current infrastructure and resources before launching the ambitious initiative.

ORARWA pointed out several issues, particularly the absence of detailed plans or visual models, which they believe limits public awareness and involvement in the project. The association also expressed dissatisfaction with the limited seven-day period allowed for public feedback, which was further complicated by its timing during a holiday season.

Additional criticisms were aimed at BBMP’s reliance on a standard Gmail account for official communications, which ORARWA deemed inappropriate for a government agency of BBMP’s stature. They further questioned whether the teams involved in site selection had sufficient expertise and understanding of regulatory requirements.

While recognizing the potential economic and tourism benefits of the Sky Deck, ORARWA emphasized that the success of such attractions depends on well-maintained infrastructure, reliable public transportation, and a clean urban environment. The association urged BBMP to address pressing civic issues first, ensuring the city is equipped to support new tourism ventures.
