Katare, who has gained a following on Instagram by showcasing jewellery, luxury cars, bikes, and young women in his reels, sparked alarm when he was seen walking around with an AK-47. Acting on a tip-off, the police took swift action to apprehend him.
Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the gun used in Katare's videos was not real, but the realistic appearance of the weapon led to widespread public concern. The police emphasized that such acts can cause unnecessary panic and disturb public order.
“The use of fake weapons in public spaces, even for social media content, is a serious issue. It creates fear and can lead to real dangers,” a police spokesperson stated. The case against Katare includes charges for creating panic and violating the Arms Act.
Katare's Instagram account, which features videos of him brandishing jewellery and guns, often in the company of bodyguards and luxury vehicles, has been a subject of controversy. This arrest highlights the legal risks associated with the portrayal of firearms, even if they are replicas, in public spaces.
The incident serves as a cautionary tale for social media influencers about the potential consequences of their content choices and the importance of adhering to legal and safety standards.
