Bengaluru resident Girish Kumar T has formally written to Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot seeking legal action against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the tragic stampede that claimed 11 lives during the RCB victory celebration.

In his letter, Girish alleges that it was CM Siddaramaiah who personally invited the public to join the June 4 celebrations, despite it being a private franchise event of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He argues that the Chief Minister failed to ensure proper planning and crowd management, leading to chaos and the unfortunate deaths. Girish likened the event to a “Mohammad bin Tughlaq-style disaster,” where abrupt and ill-planned decisions led to fatal outcomes.

The complainant points out that over 2–3 lakh people turned up at the venue after the CM's call, and the celebration was suddenly shifted from Vidhana Soudha to Chinnaswamy Stadium, without proper communication or police preparation. He argues that had the event been organised privately, the organisers would have been held criminally responsible—and thus, the same principle should apply to the Chief Minister.

Girish has requested a criminal case be filed against CM Siddaramaiah and has demanded a central agency-led probe under a sitting High Court judge, citing conflict of interest in a state-led investigation.
