  • Amid the Kall-Tulit backlash, the Congress high command is eyeing a major cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka
  • Eleven ministers may be shown the door as fresh faces, including senior leaders, are considered for induction
  • Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar has strongly opposed the move, pushing back against the proposed changes

In the wake of mounting criticism against the Karnataka government over the stampede incident, signs of a reshuffle in the Karnataka cabinet have begun to emerge. Sources reveal that the Congress high command is considering a major cabinet rejig to manage the fallout and shift public attention away from the controversy.

According to insider reports, plans are underway to drop as many as 11 ministers from the current cabinet and replace them with new faces. This move is seen as an attempt to revamp the government’s image and regain public confidence. Senior leaders like B.K. Hariprasad and R.V. Deshpande, both of whom were previously overlooked, are likely to be inducted into the cabinet.

However, the reshuffle plan has not gone unchallenged. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is reportedly opposing the cabinet reorganization, insisting that such a move is unnecessary at this stage. His resistance is believed to stem from internal political issues and concerns over regional balance within the cabinet.

The Congress high command is expected to make a final decision after consulting with all key stakeholders. The reshuffle, if carried out, could mark a significant shift in the state's political dynamics and have far-reaching implications for the party’s strategy ahead of the next election cycle.
