Bengaluru: Student gets six stitches on his hand after teacher hits him with iron rod

A shocking incident has surfaced from a private school in Bengaluru. A student of Class 7 of the Lord's School in Bengaluru had not done his homework. This had angered his teacher so much that she hit him relentlessly with an iron rod. The injuries were so severe that he had to be admitted to a private hospital. The student suffered from severe bleeding and had to get 6 stitches on his hand. The incident unfolded on December 5th. 

Reports suggest that the school attempted to keep the incident under wraps. The school allegedly promised to bear the medical expenses in exchange for the parents not filing a police complaint. 

Block Education Officer Shashikala has received a complaint. An enquiry into the incident will take place. Officers have been sent to the school. A detailed report pertaining to the matter would be presented and a notice would be served to the teacher in question. 

155 complaints pertaining to corporal punishment have been received between 2017 and 2022 in Karnataka by the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR).
