Updates have indicated a severe winter for Bengaluru in 2023. This update is despite the fact that the rainfall witnessed around the state has been below par this year. 18th October was the coldest morning of the month. This has been attributed to the cyclone along the Bay of Bengal. Apart from October 18th, the temperature on the remaining days was 18.6 degrees in the morning on average and hovering around 19 to 21 degree celsius on other parts of the day.

The effect of the change in temperature was particularly more well marked in regions around the Kempegowda International Airport. The drop in temperature is more marked during night. This change has also resulted in the health of citizens being affected. In an exclusive interaction with NewsFirst Prime Dr Shivarajkumar, a consultant pulmonologist with the Manipal Hospital stated the reason for the drop in temperature at night is the absorption of heat waves by buildings during the day which are released as shock waves at night. The effect is particularly more detrimental for those with pre existing conditions such as Asthma and Wheezing. The bad quality of air and a polluted environment are also contributing factors for poor health. It has therefore been advised that the people of Bengaluru take extra precautions in order to protect their health.
