Bengaluru: Suicide bomber identified among 5 arrested terror suspects

The Central Crime Branch (CCB), Bangalore has arrested 5 terrorists, one of whom has been identified as a suicide bomber. A 36 HE-type grenade had been confiscated from the investigations. The other 4 terrorists have aided him in assembling the grenade. The 36 HE grenade typically blasts in a time span of 4 to 7 seconds according to the CCB. 

The 5 arrested have been identified as Suhel, Umar, Zahid, Mudasir and Faizal. The CCB believes that 1 more individual, Junaid is involved in the planning of these activities and are on the lookout for him. They were radicalised by T. Nazir having links with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) when they were lodged in the Parappana Agrahara jail over a murder case in 2017. They were in touch with someone from a foreign country and there were plans to target Bangalore. The police believe that much more information would be uncovered if the identity of the foreign individual is uncovered. The individuals were working in R.T Nagar in the capacity of a driver, mechanic and other blue collared labour. The police acted on a tip off received by the Information Bureau (IB) and arrested the individuals from R.T Nagar, Hebbal and D.J Halli. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) is likely to join the investigations as per reports.
