Two teachers from a government higher primary school in Begur have been suspended following allegations that they compelled students to clean the school toilets. According to reports, the incident occurred in January but only recently gained attention after videos and photos of the students performing the task went viral.

As a disciplinary measure, headmistress Sakamma and physical training teacher Sumitramma were suspended. Additionally, the Begur police have registered a case under the Juvenile Justice Act and have launched an investigation.
The issue came to light when Nagesh, a political party member and social worker from Seshadripuram, filed a police compliant on March 29. He alleged that the two teachers instructed students to clean the toilets on January 16.
A senior police official reportedly confirmed that the education department has also initiated an internal inquiry. The footage that exposed the incident was originally recorded by an autorickshaw driver whose child attends the school. He filmed the students cleaning the toilet on his mobile phone and shared the video with other parents.
This is not an isolated incident in Bengaluru. A similar case previously emerged from a school in Andrahalli, where students were also allegedly forced to clean toilets.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking strict measures against those responsible for forcing students into such activities. They emphasized that child labor and exploitation in schools will not be tolerated.
