The 27th edition of the Bengaluru Tech Summit began today, inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Among the major highlights was the Karnataka government's agreement with Microsoft to offer training and internships focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and related technologies.

The first phase of the partnership aims to provide internships to 20,000 youth, offering hands-on exposure to AI and allied fields. Over the coming years, the initiative will expand significantly, targeting the training of 1 lakh young individuals in cutting-edge technology areas. This collaboration underscores Karnataka’s commitment to enhancing its tech talent pool and strengthening Bengaluru’s status as a global technology hub.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, present at the event alongside IT Minister Priyank Kharge, emphasized the importance of equipping the state’s youth with future-ready skills to maintain Karnataka’s technological leadership. Addressing participants, Shivakumar highlighted Bengaluru’s rapid growth driven by public and private sector contributions. While acknowledging challenges like traffic congestion, he assured the state’s commitment to providing world-class facilities for businesses and tech companies.

The agreement with Microsoft aligns with broader efforts to make Karnataka a global leader in innovation and technology by fostering local talent and preparing the state for emerging tech challenges and opportunities.
